Paul’s Message and Jewish Eschatological Notions Concerning Israel’s Role Towards the Nations
September 10-13, 2019
The continued research of the message and theology of Paul the Apostle in the Jewish context and culture of the period of Second Temple Judaism helps to grasp the original meaning of Paul’s thoughts and by this to understand better the point of Christian identity. This reveals to us how the sacred literature of Jewish and Christian religions can provide enriching perspectives on one’s own beliefs without compromising a Jewish identity or encouraging any traditional Jewish stereotypes of the New Testament.
The conference will center upon Paul’s message in the context of Jewish eschatological notions concerning Israel’s role towards the nations, including the question of identity within the social dynamics of the Graeco-Roman world of that time and their importance for a better understanding of Paul’s message.
