About us

Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava (ELTF CU) is one of the thirteen faculties of the biggest, oldest and the most renowned Slovak university – Comenius University in Bratislava. Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty continues in more than four hundred years of tradition of Lutheran theological education on the territory of contemporary Slovakia. Although its existence and educational efforts are primarily tied to the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession in Slovakia, it also provides theological education for Slovak Lutherans living abroad. The significance of the ELTF CU goes beyond the Slovak Republic. This fact is confirmed by numerous contacts with European and U.S. partners. A continuous interest of students coming from Serbia, Slovenia, Romania and the Czech Republic (Silesia) proves the important position of the faculty within the Central European region. Our academic work and its mission are founded on the achievements of Luther’s reformation. We build on values such as personal responsibility and critical thinking. We enter into open dialogue on confessional, religious and societal levels. We always demand more from our students and ask them to increase their efforts, valuing their diligence, hard work and strong-mindedness. We are a progressive institution that strives for high-quality study and offers a place for good life for persons of all generations.
